What Kind of Food Can You Feed Your Baby Before the Photo Session?

I love photographing newborns! It’s certainly helpful to hold and love cute infants and I have many photo ideas about it, but it’s even more incredible to assist families in making such precious heirloom memories.

I love to see my little, sweet clients comparing features when they are all grown up and looking through albums of their baby photos with their new baby.

There’s a reason why many photographers say things like, “I will photograph anything EXCEPT newborns!” despite my enthusiasm for photographing babies.

Indeed, infants can be challenging models! To get into the cute squishy poses that we all love, your baby must be sleepy!

I would much rather have them asleep for the majority of our session, even if I enjoy the awake photos! Completing the postures is much simpler, and your session with Yona goes much more smoothly and quickly when the baby is asleep!

4 Major Steps You Should Follow Before Baby Photo Session

Before your newborn photo session, there are a few things you need to do to ensure your baby has a pleasant and comfortable session, like when and how to take a newborn photo session, and so on.

Creating a Timetable

The best time to take posed newborn pictures is when the baby is between 6 and 14 days old. Although we can certainly get some beautiful photos after 14 days, newborns typically become more receptive after 2 weeks. They are less likely to be frightened if they are moved around for photos while they are asleep.

The Bathtub

Giving your child a warm bath in the morning is one of the finest methods for preparing them for your session. The soothing effects of warm water will help the baby sleep better.

Consuming

One of the best ways to put a baby to sleep is to feed them until they are satisfied. If at all possible, feed your baby a little less than a full meal for the hour or two before our session.

If your trip is more than twenty minutes, wait until you are at the class to complete them. If you live nearby, feed them a full dinner right before putting them in the car seat.

If you are nursing, pay attention to what you eat the day before. Beans, broccoli, and spicy foods may disturb a baby’s stomach, which could cause discomfort in certain situations.

Clothing

All the infant needs to do is dress like they will for the car ride. Try to dress them freely and wear the diaper lightly to avoid indentations on their skin. We want to move the baby as little as possible to keep them sleepy and avoid overstimulation; therefore, don’t dress them in anything that covers their head.

Foods Your Baby Should Eat Before the Photo Session

Feeding the baby is a crucial part of preparing them for a newborn session. “Milk comes” is real, as any parent who has ever fed an infant knows. After filling their bellies with food, those tiny newborns quickly fall asleep.

If they are fed right before the session, they will feel satisfied and ready to fall asleep. Some parents wait an hour or two before feeding the infant just before the session. This increases a baby’s appetite and essentially ensures a good night’s sleep.

Newborns receive the longest treatments, which last two to three hours.

During those two to three hours, we will feed the child a few more times. I’ve also noticed that babies appear to eat more than usual throughout the session. It’s widespread for newborns to drink more than they typically do on the day of the session.

5 Tips you can Follow to Eat and Drink Your Baby  before the Baby Photo Session

  1. To ensure you are done and prepared for the start of the session, time your baby’s feeding.
  2. If they are cluster feeding, I advise keeping a bottle ready for feeding.
  3. I strongly advise keeping a pacifier on hand. Having it during the session is a huge assistance, even if you don’t intend to use it later. It can always be thrown away later.
  4. Your infant will be more comfortable in a warm, cozy space. Just before the session begins, we can change the air conditioning and heat if needed.
  5. Mothers, avoid caffeine on the morning of the session and avoid spicy or gassy foods the day before if you are nursing, as they may keep the infant awake.
